What the Repair/Replacement Process Looks Like

In most cases, a cable repair turns into a cable replacement. It’s a simple, cost-effective adjustment that doesn’t take long.

With that in mind, here are the three main steps we take when replacing a broken cable:

1. Prioritize Safety

Honestly, this is our first step with every service we provide. Not only do we want to protect you and our teams, but we also want to protect your home.

2. Remove the Old Cables

Once again, safety is crucial. Before anything else happens, the door will be locked in place by either locking pliers or C-clamps along the track.

Next, we identify the broken cables, locate the winding drum (where the cable is probably either wrapped or broken), and remove the cable.

Lastly, of course, we install the new cables.

3. Install the New Cables

Using cables that exactly match in length and thickness, we insert the plan end of the cable into the notch on the winding drum.

Once it’s wound, we attach the looped end to the anchor pin (found at the bottom of the door).

It’s as easy as that! Our team will remove the clamps and test the door before heading out, but the process is really that simple. Don’t worry about gaps in the cable winding. They’ll sort themselves out after a few cycles.
